 Columbus (Whiteville City) Edgewood Elementary School Katherine Hyatt, Assistant Principal We are going to LOVE our bus drivers with an event each day of Love the Bus week.  We plan to have dinner at a local restaurant, send notes from both the primary and elementary school, have a coffee cart, and give them a sweet treat.  We hope they will know how much they are appreciated for their hard work and efforts.

Tuesday - Dinner will be provided as a grab and go meal after they complete their routes.
Thursday- Lunch will be provided at 12:00pm prior to beginning driver routes.
Students will be making cards and goodies throughout the week to present to their drivers.

 Wake Reedy Creek Elementary School James Philippart --Assistant Principal We do something everyday of Love the Bus Week!  Monday the drivers received a gift from McDonalds along with a coupon for a free dinner.  Tuesday will be sweets day with all the drivers getting bags of sweet treets.  Wednesday we will provide donuts, and Thursday we will provide sausage biscuits.  Friday the drivers will receive cards from the students, telling them how much we love our drivers!

 Mecklenburg Mallard Creek High School James Cowart, Assistant Principal Monday - Thursday small thankyou notes and treat bags will be left in the busses for the drivers.  On Friday we will have a Pizza Lunch for drivers, hang up a thankyou poster that students have all week to sign, and possibly invite central office and government representatives to ride the bus with them.

 Chatham Perry W. Harrison Elementary School Dr. John Brian Heath, Assistant Principal On Monday, February 10, we held a luncheon for regular route drivers, substitute drivers, and field trip drivers. This event was well received. On Tuesday, February 11, we distributed bus themed gift bags, that included a school bus lapel pin, a school bus shaped stress ball, and a school bus shaped magnet. Later this week, we will have breakfast for drivers and a bus themed cake, which has been a tradition at our school for several years. We've also included bus facts on the morning announcements. We shared how the first motorized school bus in North Carolina operated in Pamlico County in 1917 and how "school bus yellow" came to be in 1939 at Teachers College, Columbia University.
