July:
This month we're rolling out a little utilty that will help get rid of those nasty TAF and LCK files that seem to hang up TIMS from time to time. If you've ever placed a call to us saying that your EMU batch has failed (error) or you are not able to get into Edulog because it says a server is already running, then this utility is for you. Usually the main cause of those problems is a pesky LCK or TAF file that didn't terminate correctly. This utility will easily find and remove them. Choose to remove them ALL or just from the database that is giving you problems.
Click here to download the program. Place it in the ELT\exeTIMS folder and then copy a shortcut to it from your desktop.
June:
We've got a new utility for backing up TIMS data that you will (hopefully) find very useful. It provides an easy 'shell' for performing daily backups. The LEA #, database name, date, and time are also automatically appended to the filename for easy identification. Please contact your Project Leader for more information and help in installing and setting up the backup utility.
May:
My tip is for drawing in new subdivisions in Maris. I print a map from google maps, local live or whatever map gives me the most accurate mapping for the particular area I am drawing in on a transparency. I line up surrounding streets on the transparency with the TIMS map and it is set for perfect road lengths, curves, etc. Takes the guesswork out of getting it right - D. Roberson
April:
Hi Everyone! It’s that time of year again; time to start thinking about getting ready for the beginning of school next year. There is a great utility in EMU that can help you keep your database clean. It is called KILSTP (for kill stop). This utility will delete stop services which have no students assigned to them, and that are not on any runs. Check it out! Call your Project Leader if you have questions on how to configure this utility. - TIMS STAFF
