School Bus Travel Model
This program is designed for TIMS Data Manager to estimate school bus travel speed as a function of traffic controls, posted speed, level of congestion, length, number of stops and students on stops. The calculated speed does not follow the usual speed categories in TIMS, however, it provides a guideline to determine the speed based on scientific method.

This study was presented in 2000 NC Spring Pupil Transportation Conference by Tori Rhoulac at the 2001 Transportation Research Board in Washington, D.C. Download the speed model programs:

1. The information box will prompt you for a directory to save the file, such as c:\temp.
2. Select OK.
3. The program is 7.3 MB. If you are unable to download a file this large, contact Mickey Michael , for an installation diskette.
4. Once the file has downloaded into the c:\temp directory, you will need to unzip it. Use the PKUNZIP or WINZIP utility to unzip the file. If you need help with this, contact your project leader for assistance.
5. Once the file has downloaded and unzipped, select START--RUN (bottom right of the Windows 95/98/NT/XP/2000 screen)
6. In the box that says OPEN, type c:\temp\TDSTATS
8. The program will begin installation.
9. You will have the option to print the instructions on how to use the program.
