Message from the President
NCPTA Members , just a reminder for those still interested in the training classes from NCPTA we still have slots available. All courses are one full day and will be small with only about 10-12 except for the
CE-200 it will have 20. Each is "hands on" with most of the time being
spent on the engines and buses not in a classroom. Each participant will leave with a certificate of completion by the manufacturer. The courses from Navistar will also give the participant online access to the IC classrooms so they can continue their education. If you are interested just complete the attached spreadsheet and send it back to me. The goal is to strategically setup the classes to minimize drive
time for people.
As requested by several people the course descriptions are:
**CE-200 Advanced Electrical Systems Diagnostics – An IC factory trainer will work with participants in medium sized groups on different methods to diagnose and repair various electrical systems. The group will work together in teams on buses learning how to make more efficient repairs in the multiplex system. This course will last half a day.
Participants need to dress for working on the engine.
**DT-466 Engine Diagnostics – an IC factory trainer will work with participants in a small group setting focusing on different strategies to diagnose engine problems. Using a hands on approach the group will learn how to make repairs on the engine while it stays in the vehicle saving your district $$$ and time. This course will last all day.
Participants need to dress for working on the engine.
**VT-365 Engine Diagnostics – an IC factory trainer will work with participants in a small group setting focusing on different strategies to diagnose engine problems. Using a hands on approach the group will learn how to make repairs on the engine while it stays in the vehicle saving your district $$$ and time. This course will last all day.
Participants need to dress for working on the engine.
**FS-65 Electrical Diagnostics Body and Chassis – a Thomas Built Buses factory trainer will work with a small group of students over a two day period on buses. They will focus on in depth trouble shooting with electrical systems in the body and chassis. Emphasis will be placed on troubleshooting pre printed circuit boards and current printed circuit boards on 2004 year model and newer buses. Participants need to dress for working on the buses.

As an organization NCPTA is committed to assisting members with on-going training opportunities. We were scheduled to unveil several "hands - on" opportunities for technicians during the summer conference this year that needed to be canceled. We are again making plans to have some of these classes during the next few months. All courses will be taught by Manufacturer Certified Trainers.
Link here for a spreadsheet with the various courses (VT-365, DT-466, CE-200, FS-65) we are currently considering and associated costs. Once I know who is interested we will work out the logistics on where and when to hold the training sessions. With costs for instructors to cover we will have to ensure each course can be filled before it is offered.
We will not limit how many people from each LEA can participate in this training but do request that only members of NCPTA register. If you are interested please have the spreadsheet returned no later than October 23, 2009. Course descriptions and costs are on the spreadsheet. Thanks Binford
